2023 Log Cabin Art Contest

2023 Art Contest Winners and their families.
The selected winners for the 2023 Log Cabin Day Art Contest are standing with their families in front of the 1879 Smith Log Cabin. The artists are from left to right, First Place-Avery, Second Place-Caelynn, Third Place-Nora, and the two Honorable Mentions-Laken, and Lillianna. Their elementary art teacher Allison Goodwin is standing on the left.

On Sunday, May 21st, five Meridian Elementary School second graders and their families gathered in front of the Smith Log Cabin to recognize their creative talents.

This event reliably provides just as much fun and enjoyment for the museum volunteers as it does for the students.

Each child was tasked with depicting what life might be like living in a humble log cabin.

Out of the more than 100 entries, five were selected by the judges, and they are awarded a ribbon, a certificate, and received a ticket for a free hot dog meal at the Founders Day celebration on September 9th and 10th.

Judging for the museum were Deb Jones, Nick and Nancy Kraemer, and Dave Haskin.

There is never a shortage of talent, and this year is no exception. All artworks will be on display in the 1889 Felix Schoolhouse, and you are encouraged to visit the museum to see this colorful exhibition.
