Editor: Tell us about your familyi.
Arvilla Walls: Our family used to walk to Sanford. My brother Frenchie was in the Golden Gloves (boxing). He would do his road work running down toward Sanford and we would trail him down there. You did not have any other way to get there.
My brother Frenchie opened a barbershop in Sanford. It was near Cole's Garage on the corner and then the barbershop, then Brownlee's, a vacant space where we had free movies, Dr. Blakeley's and then on the other corner was a post office and across from that was a bank. My brother's real name was Wilford Groner, but he never went by that first name. His picture is in the barbershop display at the Sanford HIstorical Society museum. I took some barber items down there for the museum. He was a barber in Sanford in the 1930's. Dick Marcy would have been the next barber in town after my brother.
